Meet Sandra
- Sandra loves speaking and presenting before an audience, seeing it as an opportunity to both influence and change lives. However, she totally gets that not everyone shares her passion. She understands that many hate being centre stage, feel ill-equipped or unqualified to stand before an audience and that, based on research, may even fear public speaking more than they fear death. She gets it because she too was once like that.
Growing up as a shy teenager who did not know how to hold a conversation and lacked confidence in her own ability she hated speaking in public. In fact, many sleepless nights were had just over giving a 5 minute presentationn at her university. The thought of speaking before an audience terrified her, causing her heart to race coupled with the fear of messing up on stage and being rejected by her peers.
Today, Sandra not only enjoys speaking and presenting but is passionate about helping others to overcome their fear of public speaking, learn the skill of delivering a dynamic message and tell their personal, business or company story with confidence, clarity and conviction and in a way in which they can connect and engage with their audience.
Sandra began her journey into the public speaking arena when she first attending the ICAN Academy achievers network where she first got a taster of public speaking by attending a workshop. It was there that she was invited to a public speaking organisation, Toastmasters International, where she became a member and began to learn and sharpen her skill of speaking. Sandra learnt rather quickly and it wasnt long before she began to enter public speaking contests, winning at club, area and placing at division level.
From there she landed a role as a public speaking coach for the charity Speakers Trust, where, as a freelance trainer, she went on to train over 1,500 young people to speak in public by delivering, over 4 years, public speaking workshops on the National Citizens Service program to 60-80 15-17 year olds at a time.
Sandra also went on to become a public speaking coach for Tedx Youth Croydon, a subsidiary of the international organisation Ted Talks. Having a desire to help people to find their voice and speak their story, Sandra has gone on to not only train in the UK but to also run public speaking training in The Gambia for the community charity Kori.
Sandra is currently a part of the John Maxwell leadership team and mentorship program, one of the largest leadership organisations in the world. She is also a member of Toastmasters International where she holds the role of Division Director, helping to build new clubs and training excecutive committee members to deliver excellence within their own clubs.
Sandra is a lively and energetic trainer who knows how to engage her audience, deliver excellence and keep her audience on the edge of their seats.
